Barbara Marinali was appointed Deputy Chairperson of Acea on 3 June 2026, having held the position of Chairperson during the preceding three-year period.

As from the same date she is Chairperson of ATAC SpA. 

With effect from 28 April she is also independent Board Member at ATM Azienda Trasporti Milanesi SpA.

Since July 2025 she has been Deputy Vice President of Utilitalia. She has been a member of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma Steering Committee since 2023, where until 2025 she held the position of deputy chairperson.

She has been Chairperson of Open Fiber and independent member of the Webuild Board of Directors.

From 2013 to 2020 she was a Member of the first Transport Regulation Authority Board.

In over 25 years spent in the Italian public service, she has acquired an in-depth knowledge of the administrative machinery, the working of the regulated markets and the Italian institutional framework.

From 2009 to 2013 she was General Manager for road infrastructure with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. From 2006 to 2008 she was Director of the Inter-ministerial Committee for Economic Planning (CIPE) Secretariat and headed the Department for Economic Policy Planning and Coordination at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Her other significant experiences include: the Antitrust Authority, the Ministry of economic and finance and the Ministry of production activities (now the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy – MIMIT).

She graduated with honours in Economics and Commerce from the Sapienza University of Rome and is a chartered accountant and statutory auditor.
