For years, Acea has been promoting information and training activities in schools focused on water conservation and respect for the environment.
Acea renewed its commitment through the “Acea Scuola Water Education” project, carried out as part of the three-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Education and Merit. The initiative is aimed at primary and lower secondary school students to promote a culture of water reuse, recycling, and recovery.
The project, launched in the 2024-2025 school year across six Italian regions, has already engaged more than 22,000 students and, in its second edition, has been extended nationwide.
At the end of the educational programme, participating students will also have the opportunity to partecipate in a prize-based contest by producing a short film on water-related themes, as well as to visit the company's facilities.
Acea Scuola Water Education 2025–2026 returns with a project dedicated to educating future generations on saving and protecting water resources.
Following its success in six Italian regions, the project’s second edition will be extended nationwide, bringing an innovative water education program to schools.
The initiative has been enriched with new multimedia content and interactive quizzes to engage an ever-growing number of students in a dynamic and enjoyable way.
In addition to learning about the world of water through structured content tailored to different target groups on a dedicated platform, students will have the opportunity to take guided tours of plants in the areas where Acea operates and manages the integrated water service.
Furthermore, at the end of the project, students will be able to take part in a special contest by creating a short film to reflect on water conservation and the responsible use of water from their own perspective.
The program will conclude with an awards event celebrating the best short films on water education.
Among the prizes will be free participation in the various stages of the Acea Acqua Edu Camp, the first camp combining sport and water education — an experiential initiative that brings together sustainability, fun, and learning through the language of sailing. It will be a real tour across the different regions where the company operates.

Giuseppe Valditara, Italy's Minister of Education and Merit, and Barbara Marinali, Acea President, presented awards to the schools that won the 2024-2025 national competition "Alla ricerca della goccia perduta: riuso e risparmio dell'acqua", as part of the Acea Scuola Water Education project, which invited participants to produce a short film on water saving and reuse.
De La Salle Lower Secondary School in Benevento and Villa Pitignano Primary School in Perugia won the national prizes, which include free participation in the Acea Acqua Edu Camp, the sustainable tour combining water education and sailing.
Regional prizes were awarded to Istituto Comprensivo Gianicolo in Rome, Istituto Il Nuovo Bianchi in Naples, G. Mazzini Primary School in Terni, Istituto Comprensivo Montini in Campobasso, E. De Amicis Primary School - I.C. G. Parini in Torrita di Siena, and Mont Emilius 3 Lower Secondary School in Charvensod, in the Aosta Valley. The prizes consist of vouchers for the purchase of educational materials.
Through an engaging, science-based approach, students can embark on a journey into the world of water.
From understanding what it means to protect water resources, exploring historical perspectives and fascinating facts, to discovering tips and best practices for saving and recycling water.
Acea provides a dedicated platform for accessing the educational paths, divided into three sessions. Here, students can engage with content tailored to different targets, take quizzes, and explore themed interactive games.
Only educational institutions may register for the project through designated teachers, who will facilitate students’ interaction with the platform.
Acea Scuola offers students the opportunity to visit Acea plants in several regions across Italy (Valle d’Aosta, Liguria, Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, Molise, Campania, and Sicily).
Through guided tours, students will be able to explore the company’s plants and gain a deeper understanding of the importance of sustainable water resource management — a fascinating journey that combines science, curiosity, and respect for the environment.
Discover all the plants open for visits by consulting the catalog available on the platform.
