Alessandro Rivera

 

Alessandro Rivera was appointed Executive Chairman of Acea on 3 June 2026.

 

He spent most of his career at the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), where he was Director General of the Treasury Department from August 2018 to January 2023.

 

He currently serves as Chairman of UniSalute S.p.A. and doValue S.p.A., and as a member of the Board of the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT). Since 2024, he serves as Senior Advisor to Bain Capital.

 

Alessandro Rivera joined the MEF in 2000. In 2023, he served as General Manager responsible for advisory, research and analytical activities at the State General Accounting Office.

 

Previously, from 2008 to 2018, he was General Manager of Directorate IV (Banking and Financial System) within the Treasury Department. He began his career in the same Directorate, first as Head of Office IV (banking foundations, accounting standards, auditing) from 2000 to 2006, and then as Head of the Financial Markets Office (2007–2008).

 

During his career at the MEF, he held several key roles at the European and international level. As Director General of the Treasury, he acted as Deputy to the Minister for the G7, G20 and IMF. He was also a member of the Financial Stability Board; Vice-Chair of the Economic and Financial Committee and the Eurogroup Working Group; and Vice-Governor and member of the Board of Directors of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM).

 

He served as Senior Advisor to Boston Consulting Group. He also served as member of the Board of Directors of several companies, including Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, STMicroelectronics, Poste Italiane and Milanosesto SICAF.

 

Alessandro Rivera graduated with honours in Economics from LUISS University in Rome. He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from CORIPE Piemonte (University of Turin and University of Eastern Piedmont) and completed executive training at the Italian National School of Public Administration.
