An educational field trip took place yesterday at the Capo d’Acqua spring, in Veroli, as part of the “Acea Scuola Water Education” project, where a group of students had the opportunity to discover first-hand how one of the most important water supply sources in the province of Frosinone operates.
The day opened with institutional remarks from Municipal Councillor Gianclaudio Diamanti and Acea Ato 5 President Claudio Cosentino, followed by a safety briefing, during which students and teachers were walked through the plant’s management procedures and the conduct to be observed in the event of an emergency.
The students were then divided into four groups: two visited the spring galleries to observe the spring water up close, while the others took part in educational activities on the theme of water as a resource. During the visits, the children were able to see and touch the spring water first-hand and ask the technicians questions, who explained the water’s properties and the checks carried out to ensure its quality.
«We strongly believe that direct contact with the water cycle is the most effective way to convey the value of this fundamental resource to younger generations», stated Claudio Cosentino, President of Acea Ato 5. «Seeing the interest and curiosity of the young people is a source of great pride and confirms the importance of investing in education and awareness programmes».
The initiative is part of the national project “Acea Scuola Water Education”, which has involved a total of around 30,000 students across Italy to date. In the Lazio region, nearly 6,000 enrolments have been recorded, of which approximately 500 are in the province of Frosinone. The project allows younger students to get to know the world of water resource management up close, with a specific focus on sustainability and water-saving education. It includes an initial digital training phase, followed by guided tours of the Group’s companies’ plants for students in April and May. A contest has also been launched, “Gocce di innovazione. L’uso dell’acqua nella tua casa del futuro” (“Drops of Innovation. Water Use in Your Future Home”), open to schools throughout the country. Up for grabs is free participation in various camps dedicated to water education, sailing and fun activities, as well as vouchers for the purchase of educational materials. The deadline to enter is 4 May 2026. All information is available at https://www.acea.it/en/impact-on-the-territory/acea-scuola-water-education.
