Acea, Roma Capitale, AMA and Plastic Free team up for ta volunteer day promoting urban cleanliness
Together for the city’s cleanliness: on World Environment Day, Acea, Roma Capitale, AMA and Plastic Free organised an environmental volunteering day.
Two clean-up and environmental awareness-raising initiatives proposed by Acea, with the support of Roma Capitale’s Department for Agriculture, Environment and Waste Cycle, AMA and Plastic Free, took place today. Acea employees and a delegation of AMA workers equipped themselves with gloves, bags, and litter pickers to clean up three areas around the company’s headquarters in Piazzale Ostiense, as well as the beaches along the Roman coastline near the Torre Idrica in Ostia.
Present at the event in Piazzale Ostiense were Emiliano Maria Cappuccitti, Deputy Chief People & Security Officer at Acea,
representing Acea, Giammarco Palmieri, Chair of the Capitoline Environment Committee, who conveyed the greetings of Roma Capitale, Andrea Lo Faso, Head of Human Resources and Organisation at Ama SpA, and Margherita Maiani, Secretary General of Plastic Free.
At both selected sites, clean-up operations began at 10 a.m. and were preceded by a training session. At the first location, activities took place in Piazzale Ostiense, Piazzale dei Partigiani and Parco della Resistenza. In Ostia, meanwhile, volunteers carried out clean-up activities on the beaches and in the areas surrounding the Torre Idrica.
In the afternoon, during a debriefing and sharing session, participants discussed issues related to respect for the environment, the circular economy and proper waste management.
