The 2026 edition of Acea Acqua Edu Camp kicks off in Molise: Termoli hosts the first national stop with Acea Molise and students from Istituto Comprensivo Bernacchia

16 September 2026

The initiative is part of the national Acea Scuola – Water Education project, launched under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education and Merit and Acea, Italy’s leading water operator. More than one thousand young students from Molise took part in the initiative.

Termoli hosts the first of eight national events in the second edition of Acea Acqua Edu Camp, the educational programme Acea promotes to raise awareness among younger generations about the value of water and the importance of sustainable water resource management.

The initiative involved second-year lower secondary school students from Istituto Comprensivo Bernacchia in Termoli, who spent a day of experiential learning at Circolo Vela Termoli, with educational activities, water sports, educational games and sessions dedicated to water education.

The event is part of the “Acea Scuola – Water Education” project, developed under the three-year Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Ministry of Education and Merit and Acea, to promote a culture of responsible water use among students.

Now in its second edition and expanded nationwide, the project has involved more than 500 schools and over 30,000 students across Italy, including almost 1,000 in Molise.

During the 2025-2026 school year, participating schools were also involved in the national contest “Gocce di Innovazione. L’uso dell’acqua nella tua casa del futuro” (“Drops of Innovation. Water Use in Your Future Home”), with the aim of inviting students and teachers to imagine, through the production of a short film, how new technologies could contribute in the future to saving, reusing and recycling water in the home.

Among the prizes offered by the contest is participation in Acea Acqua Edu Camp, which this year has become a travelling educational tour comprising eight stops in the regions where the Acea Group operates. In Molise, Acea operates through Acea Molise.

During the day in Termoli, students took part in activities on land and at sea, including sailing trips with qualified instructors, educational games and training sessions on protecting water resources and the environment, as part of a programme that combines learning, inclusion, team spirit and fun.

“We are very pleased to welcome to Termoli an event that places young people, sustainability, and the value of a vital resource such as water at its heart. Teaching younger generations to respect the environment means making a tangible investment in our communities’ future. Initiatives such as Acea Acqua Edu Camp provide a valuable opportunity to pass on knowledge, values and responsible behaviours to young people through an engaging experience that combines education and sport,” said the Mayor of Termoli, Nicola Antonio Balice.

“Acea considers environmental education a key tool for building a widespread and lasting culture of sustainability. Through the Acea Scuola project and the Acea Acqua Edu Camp tour, we aim to engage young people in protecting water resources, using innovative language and activities designed to stimulate curiosity and participation. We are particularly pleased with the high level of participation recorded in Molise and to be able to host in Termoli the first stop on this 2026 journey, which sees students, schools and the local community playing a leading role in a shared challenge for the future,” said Piero Ferrari, President of Acea Molise.
