Acea Acqua is expanding its presence in the Italian water sector by completing the acquisition of 80% of Kratos S.c.a r.l., the concessionaire for collection and purification in the Cosenza-Rende homogeneous area under a concession awarded by Consorzio Valle Crati. Geko S.p.A. will retain a 20% stake in the company.
The transaction marks the Acea Group’s entry into Calabria and covers an area comprising 25 municipalities, with around 200,000 residents, approximately 300,000 population equivalents and more than 119 kilometres of sewerage and collection networks.
“Acea’s entry into Calabria represents an important step in the Group’s growth and consolidation in the water sector,” said Enrico Pezzoli, Chief Executive Officer of Acea Acqua. “With the acquisition of Kratos, we are bringing our expertise, know-how and an industrial model focused on efficiency, service quality and sustainability to Calabria. Our goal is to make a tangible contribution to the development of the area by making investments, technologies and management capabilities available to strengthen water infrastructure and improve the service for the benefit of communities and citizens.”
Acea Acqua will support the implementation of the investment programme set out in the concession and the enhancement of the area’s collection and purification infrastructure.
The initiative reaffirms the Group’s strategy to support the consolidation of the national water sector and promote management models capable of generating value for the areas served.
