The Fondazione Banco di Napoli hosts the first stop of an international exhibition dedicated to young talent and the future of water
After Rome, the exhibition continues its journey through Naples, Milan, New York, Tunisia and Morocco, making art a platform for dialogue on water, sustainability and the future
The Premio Acea Contemporanea has arrived in Naples for the first stop of an exhibition tour that will bring the works of the young artists involved in the project to cities across Italy and internationally in the months ahead. The Fondazione Banco di Napoli is hosting the exhibition Flussi Finiti, marking the start of a tour that will continue in Milan in November, before moving on to New York in March 2027, followed by Tunisia and Morocco.
The Premio Acea Contemporanea is a competition organised by Acea and Valore Italia for students and recent graduates from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, Accademia Italiana and SAE Institute, who were invited to reflect on the value of water as a precious resource increasingly at the centre of major environmental, social and economic challenges. Presented at the Acea Heritage Museum on 19 May as part of the Made in Italy Days, the works explore the relationship between people, nature and water, addressing themes such as scarcity, pollution, climate change, responsible water management and inequalities in access to water.
The Naples stop marks the beginning of a broader journey, in which the works serve as a means of dialogue between different communities, cultures and perspectives. From Rome, where the Premio was launched, the project is now expanding nationally and internationally, creating a network of venues where art can continue to examine the relationship between people, the environment and natural resources.
Choosing Naples as the first stop on this journey is particularly significant. With its longstanding connection to water – from the sea that shapes its landscape to the springs, aqueducts and infrastructure that have been part of its history – Naples offers a setting for exploring water through the interplay of place, community, memory and transformation.
The exhibition is hosted by Fondazione Banco di Napoli, a historic institution in Naples dedicated to preserving and promoting the city’s historical memory and cultural heritage. In this setting, works created in a range of artistic media – from painting and sculpture to photography and digital art, as well as performance, design and fashion – engage in dialogue with both the venue and the city, giving rise to a collective reflection on the value of water and the responsibilities involved in protecting it.
Each stop on this journey will add two new works to the exhibition, created in collaboration with local educational institutions. In Naples, students from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli will create two new works that will join the collection.
After this stop, the exhibition will move to the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan in November 2026, before travelling to New York in March 2027, where it will be presented at the United Nations headquarters and the Italian Culture Institute. The journey will then continue towards the Mediterranean, with subsequent stops in Tunisia and Morocco.
The exhibition thus becomes a platform for connection: not simply a sequence of works, but a journey that brings together people, institutions and places through the language of contemporary art, prompting questions and generating new perspectives.
The exhibition Flussi Finiti is free and open to the public until 22 October.
